Hi!

I’m Julie, and I am a Psychologist based in Melbourne.

I was born in Perth, Australia to Cambodian parents. Growing up, I often struggled with understanding my identity, my emotions and my life.

I grew up between two different cultures, which was difficult. My parents were adjusting to living in Australia whilst trying to overcome the traumas they had survived through during the Khmer Rouge.

Like many people who grew up in different cultures and/or have experienced generational trauma - I didn’t feel that I fully belonged anywhere, I didn’t feel understood and I didn’t feel connected to my identity.

Through my life experiences and psychology studies, I learnt about the importance of belonging, how our identities help us feel understood and that we can obtain logical explanations to our emotions.

I became a psychologist because I wanted to help others to reconnect with themselves, their identity and their emotions.

Aromm Psychology is a space where you can pause and reflect on your experiences, openly discusses your feelings and emotions, and reconnect with the truest version of yourself.
